Outline Coming Together

Today I started creating my outline for my final essay. My delicious is starting to get jam packed with a lot of websites with great information. I think my essay is starting to come together well but I want to make sure I stay focused on proving a point about social networking (hopefully the evolution of social networking and where social networking will go in the future). Here is the start of my outline-just the introduction for now: i.      Introduction

i.      Evolution

ii.     4 Stages of societies evolution (http://www.gurusoftware.com/gurunet/Social/Topics/FourStages.htm)

§       Physical

§       Vital

§       Mental

§       Spiritual

iii.   Communication

§       Face to face conversation

§       “Snail Mail” (Mail will eventually be useless and not exist) to Telegram to Email

§       Telephone to phone booth to cellphone, skype

§       PC to laptop to blackberry

iv.   Socialization

v.     Technology

I have pages of other ideas in a word document but I have yet to put that into the outline. I'll update that tomorrow.

I've been pretty busy  with AP and have not had a chance to update the blog. I feel like I am making really good progress in narrowing down my research essay. My focus is straying away from the economic side (despite the fact that I am still reading and enjoying Freakonomics) and moving towards the sociology, psychology aspect of technology. Rather than looking behind the scenes of social networking, I am looking at the evolution of social networking. Not evolution as in development from 1990 when Mark Zuckerberg designed facebook-I am starting with cavemen...well, not literally but I am going to prove how social networking sites really started evolving 100s of years ago. I am starting to find out about people's constant search for efficiency. Everyone's lifestyle is much faster and jam packed these days; therefore, they are constantly looking for quicker ways to do more things in life. More updates to follow...

Day 1

The ideas for my final project are finally coming into place. The past few days I have been researching social networking online and reading the book Freakonomics. I have found some very interesting things on the New York Times Freakonomic's Blog. Some statistics and ideas I came across today: Facebook reduces brain activity (which really is quite humorous considering how many people use it) and Google has been show to improve brain activity [British Researcher says Facebook a Brain Drain]. Time is running out today but over the next few days I will begin studying the economics of social networking. Hopefully I can comment on people's blogs and articles and leave a link to this blog so I can have some followers.
